DPH A-B-C differences upgrade
DPH-C is amplified relative to DPH-A and B.
On the left you can clearly see that the bearing for DPH-A has broken down.
This causes the gears to get the wrong position and an accident then happens quite quickly. To the right are bearings and gears for DPHC which are significantly better dimensioned.
This reduces the risk of gear failure in the upper part, which is most often the case when DPH breaks down.
The picture below shows one of the improvements on newer DPH drives, in this case DPH-D The bearing housing on the right has a bore for improved lubrication of the needle bearing that supports the thickest propeller shaft. DPHD also has an internal magnet that collects any chips. . Gasket between lower and upper housing is removed in favor of o ring. A number of other things are also done on the D version such as stock clearances etc.
